I have just bought a 1989 90 and I have bought a 200 tdi engine for it my question is the chassis is ok on it but I was thinking a galvi chassis , what would it be worth with the galvi chassis/ compared to not or would I just be wasting money.

Thanks andy

Galv chassis will hold strong money as would galv bulkhead, they're key rot spots so they do benefit from the upgrade and the price reflects the investment.

Not a bad looking thing for a 30yr old motor ;)

Is this another thread you've started...is it the same vehicle you asked about regarding engine type...if you keep starting new threads you cause confusion... stick to this forum on this site for your rebuild updates it is not for questions... ask on 90\110 defender for advice...you'll find it works better that way...cheers Rob

Listen I did not know I should only start a thread once and ask all questions there.listen I am off there seem to be some good people here but there also some **** wits. Good bye

Suit yourself if you had read the advice on how to use this site you would realise why I posted that...the top thread on this page is a starting point...

I would say if your only reason for doing a galv chassis and bulkhead swap was to sell it after, don't bother. Defender prices have recently started to decrease in value, and with the time and effort to do these jobs properly I doubt you'd recoup your expenditure.
However, if your doing it to keep for say ten years, with the possibility of selling much later, then defiantly worth it! I replaced mine with a galv Marsland one because I intend to keep mine pretty much forever, so the cost of the chassis in the grand scheme of things is negligible, especially as I don't have to think about it at all , apart from the occasional pressure wash!
Stay around, this forum is a good un, you get the odd user who is a but of a rule nazi, but the advice and experience on here make that sort of thing worth it!! :)

Hi Andy

If you're keeping it indefinitely go for a galv chassis, if it's a quick refurb and sell on I'd repair original or if too far gone replace with standard. As @Gottschalk said, prices seem to have stabilised/reducing so if it's a quick turnaround you'll never get your money back with galv
