Hi just finished rebuild on my 200 tdi engine but still blue smoke when I rev it but not on idle can’t take it for a good run as it’s a rolling chassis any ideas much appreciated thanks

Finish it off and drive it. It will probably go away once the engine gets used, oil from the rebuild burns off, and the rings bed into the bores.
Don't use too good oil, especially during the running in period.
Running no load for long periods is bad for diesels.

How much of a rebuild? Valve stems seals are a likely candidate, did you replace pistons or rings?
Where the bores honed? And obviously injection pump timing needs to be spot on, injectors get blocked and out of calibration,
Crankcase vent system also can cause blue smoke if blocked plus oil leaks as well,

Hi thanks for your response a full rebuild all that you mentioned been done except the injectors not been refurbished thanks much appreciated
