Hi All,
I have a 2004 Freelander and recently the rear window regulator cables broke and got caught up in the motor - The window got stuck in the down position. I purchased new regulator set, checked the motor and installed.
The issue I have is that the motor makes the correct 'whining noise' when opening the tailgate but doesn't seem to engage the cables. The white spring/ratchet on the cable is completely closed - Anyone know what I have missed or what I could try to remedy?
Much appreciated

Saw somewhere you need to put some kind of pin in the ratchet bit to stop it going in. Think it may have been a Comesinhandy vid on YouTube

Was the window in the correct position to match the position of the regulator when you installed it?

My regulator was nearly at the bottom of the rail - the motor in the regulator should automatically adjust itself to open and close the window properly. Freelanderspecialist forum explains how to calibrate,

- it seems to work best with the engine running, assuming relay is working, tou needto operate the window switch to calibrate

The last couple I changed I bought a complete regulator apart from the motor. Even then changing the motor is a pain but easier than swapping the cables.
The only issue I had was getting the angle of the window correct as the new regulator wanted to put the window further back than it should be.
Are you sure the motor is good and fitted correctly?

Where's the fun in that Ali!! Swapping the cables is fun, and I like the idea that I can make the windows work again, for the price of a couple of pints.;)
