I have a 1985 90 county with 2 rear sideways sliding windows. When closed they rattle like the change in a stressed engineers pocket.
Seems the hard plastic insert that fits all along the length of the window is missing from the top only. Bottom one is there... Sort of, but the top one is not there, I'm assuming the previous owner gave up trying to fit it or, like me, can't find one.
I've tried the usual craddock, paddock, retard places and even crap bay, but can't be sure these are the right things. There's felts and rubbers, but these are all wrong. So before I make my own, anyone know where I can get two of these upper channels?

Do you have some pictures? Having just removed and refitted the rear windows in my side panels for paint the top runner was felt as I noted I will need to replace it in the near future if it starts rattling. The felt is very easy to fit/replace, doesn’t require the window to be removed or dismantled and is very cheap.

Ah, that's interesting. I assumed it would be hard plastic like the one at the bottom. In that case, the usual web sites sell a roll of felt that apparently does this but I'm just not sure how it would stay up there.

I have found these...

But not too sure if this is the right thing.
Oh that is horribly priced! I use this for my front military doors LINK as was planning on using it it on the rear window if required.
The frame channel should has a little lip on it that holds the felt into place rather than just being a simple u-channel, you can see it in the pics below, as well as the old rotten felt in the top channel. (these sides are not currently fitted to the vehicle).

OK, so you fold the felt over within the channel and the return features hold it in. Maybe I'll get some then, at first I thought it would have been like the one at the bottom.

Exactly, that is all it is, very simple, just fold it in half and slide it in. Needs a bit of a wiggle, to get it over the top of the window glass but that is just a case of sliding the window back and forth either holding or moving the felt with the glass to move it though the channel relative to the window.

Yep, makes sense. thanks for the help, exactly the answer I needed. I shall order a couple

The guy from Britannica Restorations on YouTube did a very good video about this. I watched it as I think the felt on my new (to me) Puma county windows has perished too as they make a bit of a racket.

He makes installing them look like an easy 30 second job. I suspect when I get round to giving it a go it'll be more like a 30 day job involving a trip to A&E and the local glazing supplier, but there ya go...

(on a serious note look up that video, it seems really easy it basically folds over the glass and just slides over)

Recently fitted new felt to the rear windows on my 90. Relatively easy, as said above, watch the video and buy some of those little pick and hook tools. They make the job easier.

I have the felt, will attempt it on Saturday, I'll report back when I've done it. Need to check timing chain first, but that's on another thread of mine. I may fit the felt to relax after banging my head about the rough running issue.
