Hi all
I’m a Land Rover virgin, picking up a 2004 Defender 90 TD5 on Sunday, so I will be probably be posting a lot of stupid questions.
The first stupid question, I’m intending replacing the rear benches with a couple of forward facing seats (emergency kids car). I have seen imagine online of forward facing seats with enough space for a child or a thin adult to get in between but also seats where I guess the people in the back have to enter from the front (not ideal for me).
Can anybody recommend any make of rear forward facing seats with a good gap in between for rear access or is it a dream to access from the rear?
Anybody have a pair for sale by any chance?

Also can anybody recommend online traders for parts etc, because I will end up tinkering!!!!

I've got 2 Exmoor Trim forward facing, fold down seats in the back of my 90. There is absolutely no room inbetween them when they are in the upright position. When folded down, the kids climb on top of them or I just have one up at a time. They flip to the side and I bungee cord them to the sides when I don't need them so still have load space.
There are quite a few threads about this already on here, have you used the search function?

Thanks for the reply, I’m going through loads of stuff but I could not find the info I was looking for but I think I have just found out how it was done, they used normal Exmoor seats I think but modified the tub over the wheel, far too adventurous for me!
Out of interest, is there any easly demountable rear forward facing seats, the sort of thing they used to do with the old Ford Galaxy?

I don't know tbh - others will see the thread and pitch in.
Personally I doubt if there is anything that comes up to child safety spec.

Imo not worth doing. You loose ALL loadspace
Two rear passengers cannot get out the back unaided. One can
You have to get in at the same time, then fold the seats down
Im also not a fan of the seatbelts, under hard braking/accident you tend to fall left or right hitting the trim/windows.

Also dont believe any 90 rear seats bar Puma/TDCI ones are child seat rated.

There are none that just "click in/click out/"

Not the answer you want i know! Ivd been thru the process on my old 90.

Best bet is some quality side facing high back seats. You can also fit harnesses instead of lap belts should you want to.

Puma rear forward facing seats have just enough gap between them for passengers to get in and out via the rear door. Folded up they provide adequate (but not great) load space. No load space when both are set for seating. I suspect the bodywork will need reinforcing to fix them and the seat belts which will be required. They are unlikely to be cheap to buy if you can find some that are not nicked. Get down to your friendly land rover dealer and have a look at some? And you might want to speak to your insurance company if the manufacturers seating plan has been changed.
