hi all
I’m wondering what you guys have got set up for rear recovery please?
I’ve got a YRM nato hitch mounting plate for my D1 but I’m after a bit of info if anyone can help please. I can’t decide whether to make a recovery point or fit a genuine or copy nato hitch, so can anyone tell my the dimensions of the hitches, the 2 measurements I’m really interested in are from the centre of the top bolt hole to the very top of the hitch on the clasp (where the rear door would hit if opened) and secondly from the back to the front of it so basically how far it pokes back from it’s mounting point. I have about 120mm from the mounting plate out to where it would be level with the spare tyre but I’m guessing they are bigger than that. Lastly, what are people’s thoughts on the copy nato hitches?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for digging that out for me, I already have the mounting plate hiding behind my bumper and I’m also going to make a tank guard. I like the idea of something poking out just past the spare for a number of reasons but don’t want something poking out by 6” or something like that, that was why I was asking about nato hitch dimensions

Cheers

Yur welcome!

Just for if this is of any use to anyone

I fitted a YRM nato hitch mounting plate and one of the non genuine non swiveling nato style hitches (5 ton £50 ones) and this is the result.

Door opens and misses top of hitch by a good inch, hitch can be opened and misses a 265/75r16 spare tyre on standard mount, hitch pokes out past back of spare by not quite 2" so just enough to be a 'stop' without effecting departure angle too much...and it's not at shin height, bonus!

And bumper can be removed with hitch in place for people who take them off to go off road

All in all I'm happy with it

Like I say above it’s only a non genuine one, I have no need for it to swivel and didn’t want it poking out any further than nessacery
