I bought a set of rear lights with the indicators in as I was told they are an easy plug and play conversion...

well I plugged and they never played

Any ideas. They're from a maestro van but I was told they would be a straight swap for mine
I have a 300 tdi discovery 1

If anyone is in or near Birmingham I'm willing to pay for help
Thanks

OK, so "they never played".
That doesn't really mean much. What happened? Did they all come on? Did none of them come on? Or are the wrong filaments lighting up? Did you plug them in and they went up in smoke?
More information would be required to give you a reasonable answer.

Nothing happened when I plugged them in
I tried reverse, brakes, light, hazards and indicators
I also tried my existing bulbs which I know work ok

can you post a pic about that kit you bought? ... does it have extended looms as to plug in the indicator's circuit too?

I dont understand... how would the indicators work in the body light cluster as long as theyr's circuit is to the bumper? ...or i misunderstood something

Because some discoveries had the indicators in the sides too and ideas told the looms were the same as they never changed them when they put indicators in the bumpers.
Obviously not the case which is why I'm asking for help because I was give crap information to start with

So, as it would appear that is what has happened, what exactly are you looking for?

Someone to come and rewire them for you?

Cheers

Either someone to tell me what to do with, hopefully, a diagram or I'd pay for someone to do it if they can tell me what I need to get

If you wish to have help for your issue from the Forum, it's always a good idea to start with the model year of you disco as well as the engine fitted. :)

The early 300 series didn't have the high level rear indicators to start with until the dealers started retro fitting, but they were introduced permanently with the 1996-1997MY then removed with the 1998MY.

As you state in your #3 post there's now isn't any illumination from the replacement lamps i.e. Stop/tail, indication, reverse and rear fog then there's a common circuit that maybe missing therefore the earth is worth a check, I assume u isolated the electrics before removing the lamp units therefore the fuses are still intact.

Hi

Yes all was isolated (battery disconnected)
It's a 2.5 tdi 1997 registered

No illumination from anything on thethe replacement lights but as soon as I put the original ones in it was all fine

So a 1998 Model Year disco... correct? registration isn't that useful in giving the model year.

If so, it is "plug &play" normally I believe from previous thread on this subject, the loom is still the same as the 1997MY disco, but that's using the 200 series or the 1996-97MY rear lamps, although the Maestro units look the same are they compatible electrically, so compare the bulb holders and the metal electrical tracking of the two units.

Have you plugged in the original lamp unit to check the electrical stuff is okay and back to normal?

This the back of the 200Tdi Discovery lights.

See if your Maestro corresponds.
