My newly acquired TD5 90 SW is in very good condition, except for the rear door, which is badly bent behind the spare wheel.

The Defender is currently with a body shop having minor surface corrosion on the rear cappings repaired.

They suggested replacing the rear door, which l agreed to. The replacement they’ve ordered is a Britpart one and l am a little worried about the quality of this part, although it has to be a better bet then the one on the vehicle at the moment.

Has anybody fitted a Britpart rear door? It’s mostly hidden by the spare wheel so as long as it fits in the aperture l guess it will be OK

Sadly the first example arrived damaged which wasn’t a great start.
 
The problem with replacement doors is often there is no insulating sealer between the steel frame and aly skin so bimetal corrosion soon starts.
Put plenty of anti corrosion wax inside or get a galvanised door. SP is one supplier.
 
I've had a few Britpart doors over the years. Don't expect top quality, but it should be OK with a good coat of paint/wax in the cavities and plenty of paint on the outside.

Don't buy SP, there are many many posts on here complaining about them. Bearmach are best to go with.
 
Well, the Britpart one is being fitted today as it had already been ordered by the body shop.
I will report on the quality of the door when l get the Landy back!
Plus will get some rust proofing inside the door ASAP
 
Well, the new Britpart door looks fine, it fits well and tbh l can’t tell the difference between it and the OE one on my 110.
I can’t vouch for the longevity.
They’ve already waxoyled it so how long it lasts remains to be seen.

It'll last a year, or two, before it starts to blister along the bottom edge.
