Hi I have a 1988 (E) Defender 90 which when i bought it had a new rear door on it... does anyone know if the design of the door changed in later years??? i have bought a chequer plate liner for the door and the rod that holds the door to the cab will not line up with the liner!!! i can only think that either the liner has been machined wrong or else its a newer door with a slight change of design.... Any ideas welcome!!!

Yeah the door design did cahnge, but AFAIK only the hinges changed, not the location of the stay, this may have changed later tho...
The door changed from having two hinges(top and bottom), to having three (top bottom mid) in the late 80s, i don't know when though. My 1989 90 has the later 3 hinge type tail door.

I belive the lock also changed in some respect, because if you look on Paddocks there are 2 or 3 types for the back door.

When I replaced mine I had to get the one that did "my door", so you might want to check that.
