Hello there.

I just replaced the battery on my 06 Freelander due to it going flat a few times after sitting with radio on.
After replacing the battery, starts all fine but the rear window dropped as if the door is open. so I tried to close it with the window button. It closes then there are 3 beeps I have never heard from the dash and it opens again!
I have tried opening and closing the door and all is fine but it will not close up. the only thing I can think is that the rear door was open when I te attached the new battery. does the car think the door is open? nothing to indicate this in the dash. any help appreciated as I'm in France with limited tools!

Sorry chaps if this is in the wrong place!
Not at all familiar with this forum nor do I have the time to study it!
Thanks.

Hi,

You can put the key on the boot handle to rise the window until it fully up.
You can't close the vehicule if the rear window is not fully up.
So you need the reset the window again.

Keep trying.
Next time connect a small 9v battery to the vehicule ...

Hi
To recalibrate the tailgate window just disconnect the battery again, then connect the battery and rev the engine at 1500 rpm for 15 s then use the button on the console to close the window. Can be good to keep it at 1500 rpm while you run the window regulator. When the window is closed then first fully open and then close the window, now it should work fine again.

I recently disconnected the battery on mine while welding the sills after it failed its MOT, and now I'm getting exactly the same problem.
Wind the window up, it beeps three times then lowers it again. I thought it was the switch that tells it if the hard-top is removed that was playing up, but I will try the recalibration methods mentioned and see how I get on.

Edit; mine lowered fully when I reconnected the battery, and keeps beeping three times then fully lowering.
