I have had my 95 Disco 1 V8 for over four years and had some concerns about the rust on the bottom edge of the rear door aperture for some while. I had seen scary posts about rear crossmember corrosion and decided it was time to see what mine was like.

I had a very pleasant surprise when I stripped it down today. Nothing more than some surface rust in the corners of the aperture and on the crossmember.

The worst thing was the mess that the door lock bracket and the handle bracket had become. Both were just a pile of dust but replacements have been ordered. There's some alloy corrosion between the exterior door handle and the rear window rubber but this should be reasonably straightforward to resolve.

Looks fine, I think it's the D2 that suffers from rotten rear crossmember as opposed to D1 body rot.
