Hi all,

I recently purchased a 1998 2.0 XEDi Freelander, love it big time by the way! Anyway, it came with a rear anti roll bar (not fitted) The original owner removed it at the same time he removed an engine management mod chip as it increased his insurance premiums by £600 a year. However, I was wondering why an anti roll bar that increases safety would hike up the premiums? Was it just his chip that made the premium go up or was it both items do you think?

I was hoping someone out there could shed some light on this for me.

Thanks

The FRONT anti roll bar is fitted as standard and REAR one optional. It would be the chip increasing his insurance due to performance increase. He may not like rolling round corners. ;)

Have you gone mad Hippo? This post is over 13 years old and the OP hasn't been on the forum for almost 13 years.

Oh and the rear anti roll bar was an aftermarket kit, not a factory item.

do you know any serial number / reference / part code for the kit?
I've searched and lots for Defenders but can't find any kit for the Freelander,

It's been NLA for years. I searched extensively for a kit about 5 years ago, before giving up.
The same company made extended roof rails too, but those are NLA too.

I'll look out the original sales brochure when I'm back home.

The anti rollbar kit was supplied by Bearmach, an uprated front bar and a bar for the rear. Disapeared from their catalogue about 2009.
Bearmach part number BA2224
