if its kevlar or similar a 4 turn blood knot with the end tucked back through the back loop will hold (most fisherman will show you how it is done )
did 1 on jamese1505's on his 8274 warn winch to tention it we hooked it up to a 7ton dumper (handbreak on and in gear)and it dragged the thing abnout 15 feet knot tightened up nicely and did'nt give out
Splicing is best as all knots weaken the rope by anything upto 50%. Blood Knot & Figure 8 knots are the strongest 80% of original rope strength and bowlines & overhand knots are the weakest. as much as 50% of rope strength can be lost.
