Just been over the mynd today(Church Stretton Shropshire)
and the council have re -surfaced the lane from the Boiling Well to Medlicott smooth surface and apart from the last ten yards by the cottage you could drive it in a mini.
They have also started on the lane from the shooting box to the Coates things are looking up:)
 
Blimey.... i was up that way yesterday... very nearly took a ride over but the missus wasnt keen and we had to get back!! :( another time!!
 
Shame them fixing perfectly good lanes must of took some stone to fill that one up aswell
 
I think you guys have the wrong bit of the lane,its the stretch from the eastern end starting at the boiling well up towards the trig point then down to the gate at the cottage on the Medlicott end where the tarmac starts .
They have used all the stones from the dump next to the road junction and a load from the stone traps in the stream in the Cardingmill valley.
As far as I know the continuation of the lane from Medlicott onwards is still well rough!
And the wet rutted spot on the shooting box lane is getting deeper although at the moment its bone dry
 
they have done that lane which was sloping quite badly includign cutting back the hedges and new gates that comes out by the farm.

They have also done the one that goes from boiling well.

They have also started another one but cant remember where it was now - was up there last weekend
 
I've ear'd on the grape vine and a little inside info, they are making the lanes as smoth as possible so we loose interest in some of the more busy ones shall we say... shame but least the lanes are still open thou... there starting it round my way as well as we speak....
 
Boring lanes are better than no lanes... At least spending money on all the work means they won't be closing them (hopefully) any time soon, SCC are quite good compared to some councils I've come across...

councils should be spending money on all the pot holes in the roads and keep the **** off our few lanes we have.

Potholes are a major factor in causing axle & suspension failure, which counts for a third of mechanical issues on UK roads and costs British motorists an estimated £2.8 billion every year.
Authorities currently pay out more than £50 million in compensation claims due to poor roads

Agreed they should be spending more money on actual roads.... but id rather they look after lanes than close them.... what's the point in having lanes if they're just closed to 4x4's??... None... so let them look after them as they should... gravel is only a temporary fix and wont last.... plus there are other lanes... the ones with high usage should be repaired otherwise they will be closed... its people who abuse lanes who give ammunition for them to be closed.... im all for helping to look after lanes and keep them open for longer term usage...
 
I reckon that if we were lucky enough to have laning up here in Scotland, and a lane was threatened by closure, many of the users who care about the lane would try to help to repair it.

Ever considered offering to assist with repairs?
Even if it's only hauling gear up and down the lane.

I base this thought on the bit I read about a lane near Loch Earnhead where volunteers were asked to help cut back the trees/bushes and I believe there was quite a turnout there to help. I hope to join the next one.
 
The club ive just joined does that... :D Its quite popular as well from what ive been reading on there forum, giving help back to keep the lanes open...
i shall be assisting in anyway i can.. :D

Why? If you want extreme laning fook off to a P&P site

so more reason to fill them in then on all ROADS and green lanes are usually BOATS Byways open to ALL traffic. or ORPA's Ordinary ROAD with Public Access. Though you may struggle with this concept. They're not OUR lanes. We just have the same rights to travel along them as Everyone else

I like the extreme laning and I do fook off to a P&P site most of the time.
iv never been able to do extreme laning at a p&p :doh:!!!

All ways had an extremely good time tho !!! :D
 
Shropshire CC have been busy - resurfaced Buildwas lane too.... only the very bottom part - was my favorite bit though but hey ho... at least its still open unlike Leighton which has been closed for as long as i can remember....
