:mad:Still no news on my stolen defender 90 N792 WOF, BUT the latest from the INSURANCE INVESTIGATORS IS - the car had been modified and I didn't tell the insurance company ! I did have an A frame and 2 spots fitted but nothing else. Actually I had these fitted before I went to the AA insurance company BUT according to them I should have told them. I thought a modification meant something technical to make it go faster or changing the engine. It looks like they have found a way out of paying up.
At the moment I feel like I have been beaten to the floor by the Ba***rds who stole my car & now the insurance company are waiting to kick my head in !!!
To get back to where I was 3 weeks ago I will have to accept the loss of a car worth in excess of £8,000 AND spend £8,000 replacing my stolen Defender. God it feels great to be alive !!
The great British Law !!!!
To all the really kind people out there who have sent messages to me before - thank you.

Tell them it is a genuine landrover A bar therefore as an optional extra that was presumably fitted new the vehicle HAS NOT been modified. If they say it's a bull bar then tell em to get ****ed cos a bullbar is full front end protection extending to the end of the wings. Whenever I have spoken to insurance companies about A bars they have asked if I mean a bull bar. When you explain the difference they feck off. If need be print off pages from landy parts specialists showing the difference between an A bar and a bull bar.

As your landy hasn't turned up they cannot prove it isn't genuine. Pop down your local main dealers and get a part number for the A bar and send it with the proof it's not a bull bar.

All modifications on my landy are declared to the insurance company. They don't give a **** as long as they do not affect the performance of the engine.

My landy is a 'special vehicles' model. From what your insurance company are saying I could never get insurance on the vehicle.

I hope you are good at argueing cos now is the time to start fighting back. Don't admit anything. Get the story straight in your head before starting the arguement. If possible speak to the manager direct and explain about the special vehicles department. Ask them how if it is a landrover built landy it is modified? they will soon start to backtrack.;)

Technically it is/was modified. Just like if he had fitted Mud terrain tyres or a winch, he still should have notified the insurance company.

I'm not saying I think it's right. That's just the way it is.

or play them at their own game and get a friend to give you a recipt for the A bar and spots or whatever it is that you sold to him when you removed them from the car last year.......remember?! lol they wernt on thecar when it was stolen where they!

my landy came direct from landrover with weller 8 spokes and BFG m/t's does that make it modified?

did landrover supply wellers and BFG MT's as standard? All I'm saying is I would have rang the Insurance company to check, why is everyone so ratty tonight?

(pun intended)

it must be great to be perfect !! The point I was trying to make is simple - I really didnt know an A frame was a modification. The Forum is all about sharing experiences AND passing on information to other owners. To anyone reading this thread who hasnt told their insurance company about their A frame DO IT NOW.Never having itentionally broken the law in my life and always wanting to have the best for my Landy - I honestly didnt know that an A frame was a Modification.

Every car manufacturer offers optional extras. These extras are not called modifications they are called extras. Some cars have parking sensors, some have alloys. If they are manufacturer specified parts it CANNOT be modified cos they are 'EXTRAS'

My landy has been modified as it no longer has the pto winch that landrover fitted to it. I am soon to fit another identical winch. Does this mean it is modified cos it's missing or will it be modified once I've fitted it?:p

Don't talk to me like a cuunt you jumped up prick.

I'm not saying you knew it was a modification. All I'm saying (and I shall write this again, as I have already said it before) is that I would have CHECKED with the insurance company, BEFORE I FITTED a part to my landrover which it did not already have, to see if they would like to be informed.

I didn't say you'd done **** all wrong chap, so don't go getting chatty to me.

Prick.

All mods on mine are declared, especially the tyres as they are a different speed rating to standard fit ones.
Insurance companies will do anything to wriggle out of paying up.
I'm just glad the NFU don't argue about the mods on mine, they just regard them as improvements to standard spec.

Nelly, I'm not fu#king angry - OK?? :p

Mates disco has a full bullbar with built in light guards and the insurance have excepted it as a factory fitted optional extra. because it is a genuine landrover one and they can't prove it has been added since the vehicle was purchased.
