Is it ok for Median to charge a small fee for the RAVE cd to cover bandwidth costs

Ok folks - I have here a genuine original copy of the RAVE cd for Range Rover, Disco II, Defender and Gaylander.

I would love to make it available for download, but I have to pay for my bandwidth and it's half a gig in size. So what i am proposing is to make a small charge for the download, just to cover bandwidth costs. I will also make it available on CD for a small charge, again just to cover my costs.

I also have the 300TDi Engine Overhaul Manual, and Sfat Parts Finder, which are small enough to not worry about bandwidth so they will be free downloads.

Would love your opinions on this proposal

some members on here will burn a copy of the rave cd and send it to you for nothing. thats the beauty of a landy forum, you help each other out, not charge for the privalege

infact i would go as far as some members ;) will even travel out of their way to meet you to give you landrover parts that are no use to them and not even charge you for the parts, let alone the delivery.

;) alright len

Ahem.

Wasnt me.

I have a reputation to keep up, im a bad bad dude who doesnt get messed with and commands respect, i dont help people.
And if you believe that.............................

i can understand if you were going to burn a backup cd of it and post it, but £1.50 is a bit steep just to dl it

Thanks very much for the feedback folks - all appreciated.

Cant you zip the file and compress it, then use an upload mail site, such as www.yousendit.com or similar?
Ive emailed loads of copies of the one ive got no problems.

Had never looked at that Lenny - good idea - thats the way I'll do it. Cheers Lenny

Not trying to make a profit here yella - just to cover my costs as it is 568MB in size and I get charged for bandwidth. If I wanted to try and make money out of it I'd stick it on eBay - but I shall use Lenny's method - no costs that way.

Actually, now i think of it, median didnt i send you a copy of mine for FREE?

Yes Lenny, and I'll be more than happy to reciprocate. It was very much appreciated.

The 1.50 was gonna be for a cd copy sent recorded. Allowing a download of 568MB would cost me 50p, which is what I was gonna ask for to cover dl costs. As I said in my original post, the Overhaul Manual and Fast Parts Finder would be completely free to dl as they are about 1MB each.

Bottom line is - RAVE CD is available for download f.o.c., all thanks to Lenny. Also 300TDi Engine Overhaul Manual and Fast Parts Finder.

PM me for a copy of any or all of the above.

I too bought a copy on Ebay but the Defender section was only for V8 petrol models. The seller was kind enough to give me back my money though! Anyhow - does anyone have RAVE or similar for a 2005 model Defender 90 TD5 by any chance? I wouild be happy to cover postage, expenses etc.

Hi Phil

The RAVE copy I have covers Defender TD5 from 1999. There is no Engine Overhaul Manual but seems to be Workshop Manual (Defender 1999 Td5 Supplement) and electrical, maintenance, owners manuals etc.

If its of any use to you, p.m. me your address and I'll drop a copy in the post.

If your copy covers 1997 Discovery 300TDi, perhaps you would be good enough to send me a copy in return?

My copy seems to be all petrol engines - so I'd say it's safe to assume a North Amercian copy?

Does anyone know what the differences are between the post 02 MY and earlier TD5s (other than the dash and tail light layout)?

Shedloads of stuff not worth worrying about

Sheddy, very kind of you to host those, i'll whack them on my host for a while to ease your bandwidth!!!

Just one thing, none seem to cover the Disco I (unless it's on the third which is still downloading) does anyone have the Disco I rave???
