Ref the new Defender Binnacle from Raptor, anyone got one yet?
I had been hassling Raptor to make one for years as I thought it would be a big seller, pleased to say they have finally come up with the goods.

I missed out on going to Donninton last week where I had intended to pick one up so I have just ordered it on-line and hope to get it in a few days. If it is up to their usual standard then it will be excellent.

Will post photos when fitted.
More to follow.........
:D

went to donnington myself, wished i hadnt, lol. was very interested in the dash binnacle.
looks very nice, well made and looks factory.
iam seriosley, can never spell that word, thinking iam gonna get one very soon.
post up some pics as your installing, bet theres one or two peeps interested.

Im not 100% sure what your on about. As far as i can see its the same binnacle they have always sold. I have one. What is new is the lower dash panels they now make to acompany their binnacle..

You are confused.
I am referring to the new Instrument Binnacle, only released a couple of weeks ago after a very long gestation period.

The Dash Console has been the main seller for several years now and then the Binnacle Mount came along (and much appreciated by many of us), the Trim Panel came out last year (excellent piece of kit) and now (after a very long wait) the Instrument Binnacle itself. Not cheap but hopefully worth every penny, I bought a brand-new LRGP Binnacle last year but will be happy to replace it.

Will take plenty of photos when fitting.

Ah i see..

Seems like a product for products sake to me. Its not usually that bit that breaks. Its usually the plastic mount that the binnacle bolts on to? Also it says pre 2000 but shouldnt that be pre puma? Cant see why this wouldnt fit td5?

The tabs at the bottom are VERY prone to breaking, also the binnacle itself is known to split between the instrument holes.
Stick a good condition binnacle on Ebay and see the interest it gets, as long as they haven't been glued it is not uncommon for them to fetch as much as £30-£50 (I know, I sold a couple last year and could have sold a lot more!).

I don't have a TD5 to hand but the two parts ARE different, I pinched the following photo from the web.

Oh yeah i forgot the warning light cluster is different.

So if thats the only difference between the binnacles, why arent they doing a td5 version? Or are they planning one?

Speak to Raptor Engineering and ask them if they intended to make one, they only know what to make by the amount of requests they get from potential customers.
I raised the issue of the Instrument Binnacle with them when they launched the Binnacle Mount and that was a few years ago now, I raised the issue every time I saw them plus dropped them an email from time to time, paid off in the end.

After posting here I sent 'em a message, asking if they'll make one.

I have the binnacle mount; nice piece of kit.

Just received a follow-up from Raptor.... Keep an eye on the site; as they'll be available soon.

Im very tempted, how easy are they to fit the top and the bottom sections? did you have any problems changing the dials over?

My 90 Binnacle is crudely held in with some big washers behind the screws because of cracks around the fixing holes. The only problem I think I will face is the fact my speedo cable is glued and cable tied into the back of the clock which might make getting it out interesting!

Does seem pointless to me. Mines perfect, the parts that broke are on the landy itself, so a new one would solve this.

looks like i need to make a mould up for my vac former and make a bunch doesnt it
