I have a 95 Ranger rover v8 which was running fine until i steam cleaned the engine the other day. I had it running while i was cleaning it but it started to spluter and then it stalled. When i went to start it again nothing happened. When i turn the key fully on the oil light and the battery light comes on but nothing else and when i turn the key fully on then fully off there is a buzzing comes from the engine (sounds like it might be the fuel pump or something but im not sure)

The battery is fully charged so its not that. I think it may be the imobiliser but I have no idea how to even check that?

Any idea anyone???

get hold of a fault code reader that will tell you if it is imobiliser if i remember right p1667 and p1672 are the codes for it

The fuel pump is integral with the fuel sender inside the tank. Maybe you have soaked the fuse box and or various connectors. Either give them a good blow with compressed air or a hair dryer...you will know next time that a clean engine is not neccesarily a running engine!!!!

i reckon its the connectors on the top of the engine!! as said above take em off and clean em out!

can you remember which area you were cleaning when it spluttered???
