Hi All..
Working my way through the faults on my RRS 2005 2.7TDV6.
Owned the car for nearly a month and I changed the oil and filters then replaced the discs and pads all round plus adjusted the rear shoes..still have the faulty EPB to fix when I have a few days spare.
Also replaced the fluid in the front and rear diffs.
The other issue I have with the vehicle is at low speed under load there feels like a vibration coming from the near side front..
When I changed the front disc and pads I checked the wheel bearings on both front wheels and they seem ok.
It is not a major vibration or shudder and the autobox changes up and down gears ok but you can feel the vibration on the accelerator but more evident at low speeds.
Has anyone else had this issue ?
Was thinking could it be the autobox or torque converter?
The car has done 154,000 miles and I am not sure when the transmission fluid was last changed.
Regards Mark

No vibration through the steering wheel but the misfire has got me thinking.
Then again I put in neutral at low speed and the vibration seems to go.
So I guess I am proving it towards the box or torque converter?
And it revs ok at idle and no errors are coming up on the dashboard.
Was you thinking coilpack Freelance ?

Does the Sport have manual mode, the same as the L322? If so try driving it in manual when vibration occurs. Does the vibration disappear? If so at which point and when does it return?

Check the prop shaft universal joints.

Thanks All for replies.
Will get it jacked up again.
Do i check the propshaft Universal Joints for play?.
And check it in manual gears to see if that affects the vibration.
With regards the box and converter was looking into getting it power flushed.
Can anyone recommend this at all?.
Saw a garage on you tube do it on an LR3.

Some people say flushing the box fixed it, others say it ruined their box. Think it depends how far gone your box is?

You have to lift the wheels up in a certain order (safety is paramount so axle stands under chassis) chock wheels and in neutral so shafts will spin by hand. Play in UJ's will only be noticeable with slight play using a bar, you will feel it more than see it.

I took it out tonight to test with sport mode engage and manual gear selection.
The noise is like a vibration/whine noise at low speed when I touch the accelerator and present when in manual gears and when flipped over to drive.
Driving at 15mph touching the gas i hear it and flip to neutral it goes.
Am I right thinking this points towards the autobox or torque converter rather that propshaft ?

Hi All..
I am going to crack off the transmission filler plug tomorrow with car running and transmission temperature at 30 degrees centigrade and check the fluid level.
If the fluid is low ie not trickling out can I top it up with the engine running?
Mark

Torque converter normally shows a fault at around a steady 35mph, the revs flutter up and down on rev counter

Light throttle up a gentle incline vibration usually torque converter lock up clutch on its way out, continued driving will allow the gearbox to digest the crap produced

Was talking to a local gearbox shop who have a good reputation and he was saying possible torque converter and the pre 2007 and not repairable and as you mentioned Alan it probably has affected the gearbox.
Would still like to check the fluid level for my own piece of mind.
Just was not sure if I could pump the top up fluid into a warm running transmission

Topping up has to be done with the engine running and at the correct temperature after moving through all the gears.

Propshaft not ruled out, although whine sounds like diff. Check it has oil. Might be more than 1 thing. Check those UJs or regret it though.
