I have a p38 dse none egr version.

The cam cover breather has a problem in that the rubber grommet that the breather goes into the cam cover is not feeling well if there is a grommet?

In addition the breather needs cleaning (what is the best way petrol, brake cleaner or paraffin bath) and it is forcing oil from the filler cap even with a new one.

Can a cam cover from an egr model be put onto a none egr vehicle and if it can what modifications are needed.

If not can you buy the grommet for the cam cover?

If it can be purchased who sells them and what is the part number

Thanks in advance

I wash the oil separator out with Paraffin, safer than petrol, leave it to soak overnight. Not sure where you would find a replacement grommet, you could try Island 4 x 4, Rimmers or one of th other landy specialists.. Personally, I would not fit the later cam cover, cleaning the oil separator is a much bigger job.

Any of those. I used petrol but doesn't matter. The mesh is in the top of the rocker cover. That breather thing can be cleaned out too. Not seen any replacements anywhere. Might be able to cable-tie it into a better position but it shouldn't be blowing oil!

Thanks for the information.

I know that the egr version has the mesh and the pin prick hole but I'm not certain about the none egr version.

I'm told that the breather is referred to as a depression control valve (DCV)

The problem i am having is the plastic pipe that connects to the DCV on mine doesn't sit in the cam cover correctly. I have managed to get a 2nd hand unit but the clips appear to have been damaged (I can fix it) but it looks like it has an O ring.

The pipe on mine is the issue as it doesn't fit securely.

I am trying to find if it just has the O ring or if it has an additional grommet.

No 4 x 4 company can identify the item as the parts catalogue doesn't show the pipe i need information on.

I've attached pictures if anyone can help i would be greatful of the information

The pcv/dcv itself is part number stc2806. Rediculous price!
The pipe going to the elbow-connector is just a bit of pipe, the elbow itself is known to snap but I’ve never seen a replacement part. They do sit a bit loose I sealed mine on with something (epoxy perhaps? Can’t remember). Don’t recall any grommet/o-ring
This is the mesh inside. (N egr)1EB4B3B6-75AE-4E30-8556-38E428FD6B98.jpeg163DA3D8-7285-49C5-9BE2-41D50E310DD5.jpeg

There's no o-ring. It is plastic and it just sort of twists into place.
