Hello Folks
I need advice I'm looking to buy an l322 or RR Sport only petrol one.
My focus is on the 4.2 sc and the jag 4.4 engine.in generally my concern is more on the l322 you read continously about more faults and bad experience made on the l322. Could someone give me here a good advice because most information you can find are only based on the diesel ones.
The years I'm looking to buy are from 04 to 07
Many thanks Jean

The later the better the finish from experience. I've a client with a 4.2sc l322 vogue. Beautiful car and will do 5.6mpg at full stomp... Nearly 396bhp... Failed lcm module, failed entertainment module, failed coil packs after 6mths due to underbonnet heat.. And this thing eats tyres at 160€ à pop.... It is a lovely machine but not as reliably stable as my P38. I would recommend the disco 4 as the best of the disco bunch if you look at something different to the l322.. Sorry l322 peeps..

Hello
Many thanks for the quick response I know that you need to have occasional deep pockets I'm sometimes undiceded because the p38 4.6 I had 2 of them its easier to handle in all repairs and maintenance aspects as the l322

Have you seen the p38's that come into England from Japan, not cheap but like bloody new. Just take your time and view as many as you can before you make a decision or go Japanese ;)

At that age the Sport is a Disco in disguise. In which case @gstuart is the man with the answers. I'm more simplistic in my approach of FFRR or RRS : do you want a Range Rover or do you not? If the answer is 'yes, I want a Range Rover' then it has to be L322. :D
Enjoy whichever you choose.

hi

ref the sport , as @gold rover mentions is a D3 in disguise , I done a buyer guide for the D3 which at least should give u a rough idea in what to look for

https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/buyers-guide-inc-video.312800/

Like many of us having landies for many years they all have issues , just depends how deep ur pockets are alomg with how much work u can do urself , with these vehicles diagnostics and multimeter are really a must , otherwise ur be paying serious garage fees every time u get a warning light

For me a Range Rover is the full fat ones not a sport , when I’ve liked a vehicle I’ve always gone into the costings , ie, insurance , tax, tyres, service items , any recalls etc, plus the air suspension costs , compressor , struts, then the brakes, discs pads as there heavy do eat brakes and suspension bushes etc

At the end of the day anything u wish to know ur find here with some of the most knowledgeable members on the internet

hope that helps a little

Still a great song
Did you ever wonder why so many have the diesels? They come with their own set of problems mind.
It’d be AJV8 for me, every engine has its own set of issues so why not get the best one. Itl be the electronics and drivetrain that likely catch you out on the L322. If you don’t have your own kit garage will charge you a lot of money just to tell you what is wrong, plus they’d have to be correct in their analysis, can be very costly running around in circles with no solution. Trustworthy Indy that knows your specific vehicle will be invaluable

As above the l322 is a lovely car but if you cannot fix it yourself it will be very expensive.
I do all my own repairs. Last year was I think £1500 for parts although there is a everything oil change and a tow bar in that. This year is £1000 In parts so far but I will need tracking and tyres soon.
It is what it is though, a shogun will hardly ever break but is soo boring. L322 is lovely and pricy.
I have a 2005 ajv8
