Hi lads I'm after a bit of advice please.
Im going to look at a Range Rover thats up for sale locally. Its a Vogue, TD6, 2004 with 140,000 miles. Thing is I have never owned or even driven one before, so to say I'm 'green' is a bit of an understatement to say the least.
Could you lads fill me in on what to look/check for, ie common problems etc.

Thanks, Dai.

search my friend,

loads of problems, with TD6, the gearboxes fail for sure.

check when the gearbox was last changed ? as its a high mileage car, check the service history.

i bought a TD6 8 months ago, other than a few electrical niggles, its been great !

whilst taking it for a test drive listen for knocking from the suspension, check the gears change smoothly etc..

check stereo system works, check suspension rises and lowers quickly, check condition of suspension air springs - make sure the rubbers not cracked etc..

and look at the history and see if the front prop has been changed when the recall was done.

theres loads more to check

best to search well, dont just buy the first one, theres loads of good examples out there

Good luck :)

Test drive it - make sure it doesn't wander or feel vague; suspension bushes wear! Look at all the tyres and be suspicious of unusual wear, typically feathering on the edges of the tyres.Make sure all the electrics work, check it will go in to low range. Ask if there has been a problem with the front diff - there were problems with the early models, I can't remember when they modified the front prop.

Best advice to you is to put up your location and ask if anyone nearby would be willing to to look it over with you. You may have to come up with tea & biccies and remember our standards are high in this forum so nothing less than jam or jaffa will do...
