I have a 89 range rover vogue. This the 4 weeks it decided to no longer start. I have previously changed the fuel pump, filter and line.

I thought the "starting issue" maybe weather related so I have replaced the following since the issue occured... spark plugs, leads, distributor cap and arm, air filter but nothing helps. It turns over but doesnt fire.

Does anyone know which relays and fuses i should check plus there location any other tips?

Any help is welcome.

Regards
Jj

being an 1989 i'm ASSUMING it's a 3.5 so Flapper.

I'd put my money on the coil as well.

Coil or ignition amp.....mine turned out to be the ignition amp.

Its a 3.9l v8. Sorry i forgot to say that

Okay therefore a 1990MY when a security system was introduced by LR with an alarm and immobiliser, part of the immobiliser function is to isolate the EFI ECU and therefore the ignition/fuel supply.

Could now be a good time to start testing and not guessing, and also check it your vehicle has a security system :)

To check, would be to crank and then quickly whip a plug out and smell for petrol or wetness

Hang on. Let's get back to basics. You need to eliminate the easy things.
  1. Is the engine turning over?
  2. Do you have spark?
  3. Do you have fuel?
These are essential so don't bother doing anything else until all the answers are YES. If any answers are NO, then we can help.

Hi, I had a similar problem. Turned out to be the plugs. The ones that were in were new at the last service but when the problem started a friend told me to only use the correct champion plugs. Runs great now.
