Hi everyone,

Having recently purchashed a 1993 4.2 LSE i am beginning on the restoration path! The plan is to completely restore all areas as original (or upgrade parts). So far i have removed the engine and have sent it away to V8 developments for a complete overhaul and rebuild.
Engine work includes:
. Full strip and rebuild
. Top hat Linered block
. New cam bearings
. New main bearings
. New big end bearings
. New piston rings
. All new gaskets and seals
. Lapped and polished crank
. Full internal balance
. Full refurbished rocker assemblies
. Upgraded high torque camshaft kit, including timing chains and followers
. Upgraded big valve torque master heads
Following this i am also upgrading the distributor, ht leads and starter motor as well as replacing the alternator, ignition coil and water pump.
Concurrently i am fully replacing all inner panels from bulkhead forward (inner wings, headlight housings, battery carriers) to deal with the rotten ones currently in place. Coil replacements (conversion already occurred) and brake upgrades.
Apologies for the long post but planning to give a running update of progress until the finished article! Hopefully it will help others along the way and provide a useful wealth of information when i inevitably get stuck along the way... Haynes manual at the ready!

Dan

I love the LSE, that little bit longer and that little bit nicer to ride in and the 4.2 was a step up from the 3.9 and an in between step to the 4.6.

Only pop quizzer from me, are you putting it back on air?

I thought they were only coils?

Love the LSE.
I used to only have the rims on my early 90s the rest too posh for me

Allthough originally air suspension I am going to keep the coils. Main reason being I plan to keep and use the LSE and I don’t want the unreliability of air suspension. If the time ever comes when I decide to sell then it will be converted back to air to complete the originality. I’d say this is the only significant part I will have as a modification in the purists eyes

Never worry about purists. Always have a motor which you know will function & not give you grief.

Here's what someone done(converted) to an LSE as they decided to much body rot.
Keep up the good work

Welcome to the forum.

All lse's had hair suspension. It was a first for land rover at the time.
