I have just bought a 2005 Range Rover Vogue TD6. Years ago I had a Classic which was easy to lock the diff with the small gear lever. But with this model I cannot find anywhere what kind of diffs I have, how many, what the system is and how do I know if it's locked, eg on an icy hill. Just fitted Wrangler Duratrac tyres which are brilliant but I would really like to know more about the locking system, what it consists of and how it works and how do I know what's going on underneath. It obviously does work because I sailed up hills in the snow here in the High Peak where other 4x4's were sliding all over the place. Maybe my new Wranglers! Many thanks if anyone can enlighten me as to my system. In the village Land Rover garage at the mo as the gear box has gone kapput. 3 months out of its 3 month warranty with them but they have said they'll pay half the bill.

The traction control is all done with elastictrikery by the ecu`s using the abs so there are no locking diffs.

Welcome:).

Best search net for a manual to help, which would explain each program.

As ^^^ TC takes care of the front and rear axles. the center (your year i think) locks in low range which i think is selected with 1 of the special programs. later car the diff was changed and became either lockable or LSD but again all controlled by electrickey programs.

There was an option for a lockable rear diff but dont think many would have taking that up and not sure if it was for the early cars.
