Hey all, just bought a 1993 rangie vogue SE :D . One problem, when I try to start is, the started motor just clicks, and doesn't really crank the engine. Does anyone know where it is, and if hitting it with a hammer will help :)

Thanks in advance,
Red

If your looking into the engine from the front of the car it's on the left side of the engine. Just tucked in behind your exhaust manifold. There's a solenoid attatched to it and you should see A couple of wires from it along with an earth strap coming from the starter bolt to your chassis.
Make sure all your connections are ok and your battery is in good nick. It might not be getting enough juice to turn it if your battery is fooked!

You could try the landie hammer method if the other checks are ok :)

Get yourself a basic manual if you haven't got one. They at least tell you the basics and a few lies along the way lol

DC is bang on with his advice. Bad connections are often the cause of starter problems.

the aire keep popping off my starter.follow the drivers side bank manifold and that leads to the starter motor, its a round thing with a smaller round thing sticking out.If yer burning yer hand on the manifold then ya in the right place!!!!
