So the plot thickens

I took the battery out of the other truck and put it in to try to start.
After the 4th attempt of the truck not starting. I pulled a plug to see if it was wet. While i had the plug out, I figured I would check for spark. I got a yellow spark. Replaced the plug & I went to check the fuses..
(unknowingly the ignition was still in position 2) i pulled the key, fuel & blower fuses just to check for corrosion. Placed them back in ask my friend to turn the key

All i get is a click and the fan making 1/4 turns..
I got under the car to listen to the starter and the click seems to be coming from somewhere else.

Yeah! I'm stumped too. I hope I didn't trigger a relay to fail

Check the ground on the neg. cable on the battery. And maybe go buy a coil and condenser. Rover grade costs a bunch , but I got mine at Checker's for $30ish and I've put 30,000 miles

Checked the ground and pry'd the terminal open to go to the bottom of the battery post. You were right..
Im Back to pre-conditions.
Still won't turn over.

And on 1st attempt if feels like its gonna start but I don't wanna press the gas..

Ima let her sit for a few hours and come back.
The coil I'll get in the morning.

I'm sure there are a few reasons why that would happen..
Could 1 of/ or could it be the ignition coil? Plug losing spark?

Low battery voltage to coil. Coil itself or plug leads. Or any combination of those.
 
I'm wit the Wammer on this one...sounds like a duff battery to me....

Spark should be thick and blue...if it is yellow, there is leakage from a coil to earth either not charging the coil sifficently or when it fires, it crosses to earth....

Check the coil packs for signs of arcing or cracks, hot spots etc....as the Wammer says, check for security of the wiring and plug leads....

Check plug gap too....

Once you get a strong spark, move on to the next process...a petrol engine needs 4 things - Compression, Fuel, a Spark and Air....
If you have wet plugs you have fuel, now check for a good spark - if you have that then next check for Compression and if that checks out, time to look at the induction system....

Evening, apologies for the lapse of time; unforeseen events demanded my attention elsewhere.

So, to pick up where I left off.

Had the coil, distrib, batt & alternator all checked out.
Everything came back fine.
Local shop has a test book- codes came up as 'power train' failure, with sub links advising to check the inertia switch & fuel pump for intermediate activity.

Long story short.
The fuel pump was at its end and sending signals to stop fuel delivery as if I had an accident.

Pump & filter replaced... I'm back on the road!
 
Thank you for coming back and finishing the story. So many of these threads are just left hanging in mid-air.
