P38 - passenger carpet and to lesser extent driver carpet gets wet when it rains even when just parked. Any ideas guys.:(:5bnopity:

blocked drain tube on the heater possibly,,,,,,its not from the air con is it theres a thread on here @ that somwere...dave

theres sunroof - blocked drain tubes
heater matrix - o rings
aircon - drains
also the pollen filter seals i believe can let water in

Can't be aircon as it is not gassed. Looks like clean water not coolant. Sun roof drains sounds good will investigate - thanks guys.

The pollen filters can cause this - worth checking unless you've changed them recently. Many people don't know about them and they stay unchanged for years, clogging up and eventually causing a flood!!

Also worth checking that the plastic weather shields that should be stuck to the doorframes are there and stuck to the frames.
Need to take the door cards off.

I found i had this prob too after a bad night of heavy rain, need to check my pollen filters didn't change them last service cause i couldn't get the screws out

P38s are also known to leak around the front door seals. Seems the rubber eventually loses its flexibility and doesn't seal against the door properly. If this is the cause either replace the door seals or push some wire flex behind the seals to pack it out.

Nearly a year on has anyone found the cause, took my glove box out and its def coming front the heater fan area and it only happens when it rains over night so not a/c drains or 0 rings.

By the sound of it maybe the pollen filter covers arent properly sealing over and may be a bit distorted, i would try taking them off and applying a bit of silicon sealant around the edge of them before refitting.

ive had many problems with mine leaking, has been coming in through the top of the windscreen but have managed to reseal it for now!!!!! going to have the headlining out soon and do a proper test:eek:

I've had the windscreen replaced (for other reasons) and it has been doing it a while on with all 3 lol windscreens iirc so go to be something to do with the pollen filters just got to work out if its where the top covers are not sealing or where the plastic box that holds the filter is butted up to the bulk head.

i would try the covers first of all, ive seen posts before saying the covers were to fault. run a small bead of silicone around the edge, refit, leave for a while then i would get a watering can and wet the area then stick your head up the dash and see if you can spot anything!

rubber seal when you open the door thats double sided taped to the lip under the roof what runs down the A post,(not door rubber)if it rains and this is loose anywhere at all i guaruntee it will leak

It has to be the pollen filters, mine always leak when it comes back from a service, when I change them I re seal the covers with clear silicon, as the sponge gaskets are not very watertight, unless they are renewed too. JV-ROVERMAN

I have replaced my pollen filter covers, cleared the air con drains, so that leaves the sun roof drain - anyone done this?

Amnow confused - spent this morning with a watering can - tipped it over the windscreen, no water in footwell, tipped it over the A post, no water in footwell, opened the sun roof and tipped about 3 pints down the drain, still no water in the footwell - so when it rains, why does water come in to the footwell?
