Different to previous posts about the radio switching on and off, mine changes channel on its own (Freelander 2) from time to time, usually to Radio 1 which is naff.
I think it is related to small movements of the steering wheel so I am guessing that something has come loose or worn in the steering wheel (130,000 miles); would I be correct in that assumption?
Got in it the other day, started it and it said that the steering column was locked (it wasn't) and the engine had reduced power (it didn't).
Any ideas?
 
Can you please not post the silly & infuriating problems that has made me vow never to buy an F2.

Having just gone against my better judgement.

The steering wheel shouldn't move separately from the wheels. If so then the centre nut needs checking. This shouldn't effect the buttons on the wheel though, unless there's also an issue with those. Maybe Radio 1 is a bit modern for the FL2, Radio 2 might work better. ;)

The steering column being locked warning happens, especially if the wheel isn't pulled off the lock pawl before the key in inserted.
Reduced performance from startup is normally a voltage related error. How old is the battery? Batteries over 4 years old don't play well with the extensive electronics on this vehicle.

Just need a spare Haldex and all the electrikery boxes in the boot 😀

Hope it does you proud and gives stirling service as the FL1 did.
