Hi Hive mind,

quick query. I have a P38’which has the pre DSP HK sound system
With door amps.

Have been replacing a cowboy head unit install and was going to go back to stock but have decided against it.

found the chipped wiring loom for the pre-outs to feed to the amps, have praised the wiring that had been cut in the doors to bypass the amps speaker output.

New Head unit springs to life and works mostly as expected but zero audio.

I suspect it’s the ‘accessory’ power (blue white) from head knit is not going to the door amps to tell them
To spring into life.

Ah I right in thinking this should be a grey/black (or a pair of grey/black) lead which connects to the iso block ?
There is one there but currently nothing connected to it.

All help most welcome !

thanks again

Bob

Hmm, there are a couple of systems and you'll need a wiring diagram to be sure.
On most cars blue white is a lighting wire but these aren't most cars...
I have the hk system also but it was all original when I changed to an aftermarket system. I also had to fit a converter to get the amps to work with the stereo. My last Kenwood didn't need it but the jvc (same family) needs the convertor... Basically all my wiring and colours were left in place apart from the steering wheel controls and telephone plugs, the sub plug I stripped out and modified it to run off the sub output on the new stereo.

Hey, thsnks.

yes, the blue/white from the pioneer head unit seems to be the one which would trr er kk sn auto aerial to erect so I’m guessing the same signal might do the same for my amps !

I haven’t found the steering whett er l remote yet, what kind of connector is it on ?

cheers

For the steering wheel controls there are three little plugs clipped together, Yellow, blue and another colour I can't rember?? It's been a while since I was in there....

Haha, that’s ok,

it’s such a fiddle of cable back there I was just relieved to find the 10-way cable which had been snipped -the sub pair was still in its pink connector !

if I have to go in again, maybe I’ll take out the hevac unit too if that allows better access.

cheers

I don’t doubt it,

will
Try and get handy with the multimeter tomorrow afternoon when I have time, it’s just awkward as all of the cables have been cropped very short

Steering wheel controls would have originally been on the 8 way ISO block that goes to Pin 3 - Grey/Orange wire.

Thanks Marty,
I’ll get a proper chance to have a look tomorrow.
In what probably seems a stupid question, would there be multiple wires -one for each control or are they in a mor3 clever ‘serial data’ type arrangement ?

cheers
