Hello all... I have not seen this answered before:

I have a 1998 Jeep Wrangler Sahara with the (original factory Goodyear)
30" wheel option. The tires are now a bit worn down and I am looking
for new tires.

1. What is the biggest (and fattest) tire I can install on the same
wheels? I heard something about a 31" will fit. I don't want to do the
lifting bit... just want something cool looking!

2. What are the best tire manufacturers for the jeep?

3. If I have to replace the flares, no problem. Any downside to
upgrading the tire size like fuel economy, stability, etc.?

4. With bigger tires, do I need the speedometer & odometer adjusted?
Each turn of the wheel will cover a slightly longer distance, won't it?

First of all I'd suggest you tell a bit about your intended usage of the
vehicle.
Though all women claim, size doesn't always matter ;->

You have got to be kidding! Do an archive search and you'll see about a
zillion instances of this question, and about 10 zillion replies. I know
that I personally have asked this question several different times <g>!

Tallest: 31 inch. Fattest: 10.50's on your rims.

If thick slick mud is not in the picture, the BFG AT/KO is a killer tire.
The only thing it does not do well is deep mud. If mud IS in the picture, I
like the Goodyear MT/R as a tire that can handle mud reasonably well while
also doing everything else well. Except ice. That's what is on my '97: 31"
MT/R's. If you are going to do primarily mud as your 4-wheelin' adventure
of choice (ick), then BFG MT's or ome Super Swampers are in order...

You'll be sitting a little higher, so I guess it'll roll over a little
easier, and you'll lose some fuel economy and some braking and acceleration.
What gear ratio do you have? Automatic or standard tranny? If you have
3.07 gearing and a manual tranny, 31's will not be pleasant.
