Hi I´ve recently blown the head gasket on my 300 tdi, while head is away being skimmed I went to the local spares dealer, in the south of Spain to order new head gasket, i was ofered the same one i had or "reeinforced" one, this one seems to be laminated and made up of at least 4 layers of gaskets. My question is what is the diference as the diference in price is fairly large.

Thanks in advance

Depends a disadvantage of a laminate gasket is you lose about half point of compression due to the thickness of a laminate gasket.

A pro is laminate gaskets can seal easier on a possibly not so brilliant surface.

Depending on how many times the head is skimmed you might need to go with a thicker head gasket to compensate for the reduced head thickness. I went with the thickest gasket (Victor Reinz) which has no holes, this will lower the compression ratio and which is better for increased boost pressure.
I also used Permatex Copper Head Gasket sealant when I did my build, I also opted for new head bolts and torqued them down a tad more than spec.
