you should be looking for an old 90 or 110 with work you are capable of doing and paying what you think is reasonable

Ok i can weld, spray and rebuild an engine. My son as works for a garage, i am looking for something to restore to a good standard then keep for myself to use when i go shooting etc, i dont mind hard work but dont have piles of money to throw at it. but can spend bit by bit if you understand me

get something within budget, pretty much everything on a fender is replaceable. Usually reasonably priced but theres always the exeptions :)

the na and 19j engined models seem to be cheaper but take a 200tdi conversion quite easily apparently. a cheap mot failiure disco makes a good donor.

just make sure the chassis is strong (prob one of the priciest parts to replace) take a hammer with you and give it a good whack in various places to make sure its not rotten.

Can any suggest any where else to look for one other than ebay? and here as i have posted in the wanted section and looked through the for sale part as well

keep looking on eblag and auto trader but check ID vigorously alot of ringers and iffy ones about,a complete scruffy one is good a fancy ringer is not worth the hassle of losing your money

Will that do you?

What are the main areas to look at? I may have one to look at on Friday
see post 8 for things to look for condition wise mostly depends on how far you are prepared to go workwise and how deep your pocket is.
ID wise check No's match on V5 engine and chassis and dont accept lost V5 check old mots for No's match and does the reg date match type of motor any doubt walk away.
If local someone of here may go with you if you ask,in return for beer tokens.

Ok... just to clarify as i've had 3 PM's about this now... i don't own this, i'm not offering it for sale or anything - i was merely pointing out there are loads of S3 lying around ripe for restoration - 30 seconds on eBay turned 2 great contenders up.

This was just a random picture off Google images.

I have looked on eBay, but I realy have no idea what I should be paying for one in this condition? Is 500 quid enough??

I bounght a ninety last year and it needed one bad earth and a 10 cm plate for mot- full tank and tax =£450
