errrmmmm came across this for sale a disco on portal axles asking £2k for it

could it be a project or do I buy it n swap axles over to my bobtail:confused:

At 2k, I'd buy purely for the axles.

If you're happy with your vehicle as it is now, then I'd slap the portals on that, put the standard axles back on the blue one then sell on to recuperate a big chunk of the costs, making it a very cheap conversion for your Bobtail. :)

yep cheapest portals I found were £1850 and then u have to have them adapted to fit the lr...its only the hubs that are the prob at the mo as pikey says my rims wont fit them:mad:

Mind, you'd also need to budget for a few more wheel nuts .. ;)
 
el of a piece of kit ! has any body approached an engineering company ref a possible lr conversion or can you only get them as is :confused:
 
Couple of companies do portal axle sets, but mostly people mod Unimogs or similar .. whichever way you go it needs money, some skill and determination to do it right .. nothing is straightforward unless you throw cash at it and give it to someone who's done it before .. ;)
