hi all, am new on here, at present i'm building a discovery series 1 200 tdi for off roading and was wondering if anybody knows how much work it is to fit a set of extended wheel arches, i've heard it is a bit of a challenge with a 5 door disco as the rear doors need to be cut. has anybody had it done and how easy was it?
i've put the lift kit suspension and wheels and tyres on, just to see if it needs doing and yes it does.
any suggestions?

The fronts are easy just mark them out and cut them, the rears are a lot harder as it leaves a gap between the inner and outer door skins when you cut it out. Devon 4x4 do arches that cover this gap, but there £350. I bought mine from Paddocks for about £200 but they don't cover the gap in the door skins so well so i filled the holes with expanding foam and sealed over the top and glued the arch to the door with sealer before screwing in place, you will need to cut back the inner wheel arch as well, but use a spare bit of the rubber strip that comes with the arches to cover the cut edge of the inner wheel arch, the bit you see when you open the door. If you get an arse of an MOT ispector they moan about having a sharp edge above the wheel otherwise. any problems let me know. Be sure about marking out first, once started no going back.

thanks kris, i've got to save up for the arches first but if i get stuck i'll holler. i know what you mean about the marking out bit i did that on my first range rover 2 door and cocked it up. went to put the wheel arch on and had nothing to bolt it onto. so had to mount it higher than the passenger one, and still nobody noticed.

If you do a google search for roccia flares you should find fitting intructions (step by step pictures). They used to be sold thru ebay but Scorpion racing seem to sell them now under their extreme range so they have dissapeared off the radar :(

I see the Roccia arches when they were for sale on ebay and at that time they even more expensive than Devon 4x4 arches, now that Scorpian racing are the current retailer i would think you would have to sell your house to buy them. Wasn't that keen on them, big and chunky to the point of ugly.

Had a look and there the ones i sugested to get, got them fitted to mine, used to be sold on ebay, but like you say MM do them and there the same as what Paddocks sell, not the best you can buy, but the best you can buy for that price. Still say if you got lots of cash Devons are the best, but just couldn't make myself part with £350 for six bit of plastic.

Kris, It's the set up costs for making large injection moulded plastics, that's the killer. If they could sell a 100,000+ they'd be less than £50.
