Evening to all you V8 nuts I thought I ask a question today as I must have left my brain somewhere else this week.

I have a 3.5 efi v8 that I'm gonna do a complete rebuild and since I wont be using it on the road I would like to change out the efi to carbs mostly for the simplicity of it really. I was gonna try find a pair of strombergs carbs secondhand but that's proving tough to find. does anyone know where I could source theses parts.

If I find what I'm looking for I more than likely put the efi and ecu up for sale as it might bring in a few bucks.
:D
Thanks in advance
Jonathan

I have a 3.9 running on carbs. I got the manifold from an SD1 and the SU carbs from a Range Rover. Both were EBAY finds. The reason I went for carbs is because I got hold of an LPG kit off of an old Range Rover 3.5 carb. There are also a few Land Rover shows and autojumbles going on around this time of year, and they can be a good source of parts, but they do tend to be a bit more expensive at some of these places.

If you are just using it off road, either racing or steep banks/hills etc you are better off with EFI. It is unaffected by bumps or extreme angles of lean - carbs are....

strombergs and su are good offroad, thats why they fitted them. its the holly etc that can struggle

two schools of thought on it really, one that the su's give a little more power but do go out of tune fast- and I can testify to that as mine do.

two, strombergs do need the diaphram replacing every 2 years but its only 99p from padwanks and they hold there tune for a lot longer.

it can ber hard to get the right su carbs too as a lot fitted to rover v8 powered saloon cars wont work off road
