Hi all, as some of you may know I have just completed a manual conversion on my Land Rover discovery 2 v8. I am having some problems with re programming. I have a britpart lynx diagnostic and have managed to reprogram that. Everything seems to work ok but I have the flashing m and s lights. I'm trying to use the ecu from the donor vehicle and reprogram that but the lynx doesn't seem to be able to do it? Does anyone in the Bristol area have a more sophisticated system? Or am I doing it wrong? Any help much appreciated!

Did you try in the BCU - programming?, the first setting should be about manual or auto gearbox and manages the warnings so make sure it's set to manual and you must scroll through all the other settings untill the end and prompt yes when it asks about factory settings

Yeah I did what you said. I think it's taken it because when I go back into it now it says manual not automatic. Engine ecu is coming back with no signal from transmission controller. As far as I know I don't think you can configure the engine ecu for a manual. I have another ecu I would like to use as its from one that doesn't have sai and i would like to remove it from mine. I've seen a thread on another forum doing what I've done and it says that in auto logic you can program the dash clocks aswell as the bcu. I have flashing m and s lights and then I get an engine management light after a couple of journeys.

Ah Is autologic and nanocom the same thing? Sounds like that's what I need cheers for the help

If you still have the original loom there and the transmission ECU plug left empty try this: use wire and put bridge between pins 25 -51- 54 as to be all 3 linked together, this should extinguish the lamps and no other setting is needed cos you actually emulates what the tester does this way, see pin disposals and DO NOT MIX CAVITIES ... if the loom was changed i'll tell you other place where to do the wiring mod

Ok yes I do still have that under the passenger seat. I will try that tomorrow. I do still wish to try and get the other ecu programmed to work as then I can get rid of the sai system. Thanks for that. What are those 3 wires then?

An ignition live and the two wires to the M +S warnings, for the instrument pack this will be exactly like when the transmission ECU gives the extinguish command for the warnings....it has to do ONLY with the lamps nothing else
What do you mean by not mixing cavities and pin disposals?
to concentrate and not bridge other pins than exactly those pointed

why are you so curious? ... i\m not gonna tell you to ruin anything no worries;)

That makes sense. Will this help with the engine management light? Yeah sorry I took that as a given. To be fair I was probably going to remove them from the plug and join them that way. No I trust you!

The fault code is to do with the no communication between itself and the transmission controller. Hence why I think I need to use the ecu from the donor vehicle. Is there anyone on here that has something capable of sorting that? I can pay in money Landrover parts or beer? :D:D:D

I'm affraid that only Testbook T4 or Autologic can fix that, expensive main dealer's tools i doubt that any enthusiast will have one of those... you should try to plug back the transmission ECU see what happens

Will a nanocom do it do you know? There only around 500, if I would have known that the britpart one wouldn't do it I wouldn't have bothered buying it!

I can try plugging it back in for now to cure the eml light. Then I can try your fix with the bridged wires for the mean time. My cruise control doesn't work now either but I feel that is ecu related too as I feel that the engine ecu would need to talk to the gearbox ecu about gearselection etc

being a V8 nanocom is useless as well for that:

Programming Records
The ECU can be programmed (reprogrammed) only 14 times. Each time the settings are stored in
a record (1-14) and cannot be overwritten). Please note that the Nanocom Evolution cannot be
used to program this ECU, it has to be done by Land Rovers Testbook.
as about the CC, did you fit a clutch pedal switch?...cos without that the CC will not work

you should have made more serious research before starting this mod IMO

Right ok. Let's not shoot me down too soon. I have a clutch pedal switch fitted and the plug is already in the loom with a link wire fitted. That's all fitted and working. All that's required is that the engine ecu needs to be swapped and the security re-synced. If it's test book it needs then that is what it will have to be, not a problem

Right the conversion is complete. Managed to sort all the warning lights. To cure the engine management light I swapped the engine ecu, bcu, key chip and immobiliser coil on the end of the barrel. The car drives much smoother for doing this as I believe the auto ecu and the manual ecu are different for there running of the engine. Thanks to @sierrafery for his wiring mod which got rid of m and s lights. Cruise control worked all along, it was just not the clutch pedal returning all the way and touching the clutch switch. @sierrafery Only issue I have now is a bit of engine flaring from 3rd-4th and 4th-5th. I take it the clutch switch is meant to tell the ecu when to do this. It's strange as 1st-2nd is fine and 2nd to 3rd is fine.
