When I got back home today my 2006 freelander wouldn't lock with the remote. Locked it with the key but now the central locking doesn't seem to be working at all.

I unlocked it with the key (setting the alarm off) and tried to unlock other doors with the button on the drivers door but it isn't doing anything. Have been able to unlock the other doors from inside but not the rear door.

Any ideas what could be causing the problem (I've changed the fuse) and is there any way I can get the back door open as I need to put the dog in there for a long journey in a couple of days.

Thanks for any help

Thanks but tried that. It's not just the remote not working the central locking button on the drivers door isn't working either.

hi im new to landyzone.......im trying to get help with central locking problems ive had for 3 months can anyone help..thanks

oh go on then, give us a f*cking clue what problems you have. We're good, admittedly, but not that good.

perhaps if you told us the problem we could start to help...

oh, and:

:welcome2:

This keeps happening to my '99 1.8 xei. usually works again after changing the battery.

I do have one question, should you be able to unlock the doors with the key? because mine wont.

indeed you should. you should be able to unlock just the drivers door with one turn, then all the doors with a second turn.

also putting the key into tailgate and turning clockwise and holding there will drop the rear glass

I thought so, the key fits all the door and tailgate locks so obviously its not been changed so where should I look now?

This happened to me on my 03 TD4.
Firstly, use your remote to check if the alarm is being enabled/ disabled. Although the doors may not lock/ unlock you should see the indicators flashing to signify that alarm is working.
Assuming the alarm works then open each passenger door and put the windows down. I know your tailgate won't open at this point.
Take out fuse number 15 in the Passenger fuse box under the steering wheel. I think you'll find it has blown. Repace it with another 20 amp fuse. As your car is an 06 it may be a different fuse but you can identify it from the fusebox lid. The symbol is a door with a key in the middle of it.

Finally close each door and put the windows up. The reason for the door thing is to help prevent a current surge which will keep blowing the fuse you replace.

It worked for me hope it helps.
