Hiya Chaps,
Just Thought I'd share this with you, before any of you go down the same way......................
A couple of months ago, had a prob with my power steering, it was getting a bit stiff at lower revs, and making a fair bit of noise. So had it checked out, and had the power steering pump replaced. It was ok for a couple of miles, but started playing up soon after - to the point of not working completely.
found the main feed hose was collapsing in on itself, so got a new hose, and run it for about ten mins - and the problem was back.
Now, couldn't see any filters in line, but after draining the P/steering resevoir, found a little pressed in filter, at the bottom of the resevoir !?!?!
and it was blocked solid.
managed to clear 99% of the crud, and got my power steering working again.
my thing is tho - WTF is that captive filter doing in there in the first place !!!!!, it should be fitted with an inline type filter.
a word of warning tho, don't go playing with the ACE bottle (shares the same res, as the power steering, coz this can seriously mess up your day !!!!
