Hi, I have a 1.8 petrol freelander 2003 Kalahari "No Laughing"

The problem: When I get up to around 50-55mph I get a rumbly hum from front off side wheel, when I get out the car you can smell a burning rubber smell and the centre of the wheel is really hot, unlike the rest of the wheels.

First thought was wheel bearing! Changed it no difference.
Drive shaft changed that no difference.

The burning rubber smell.... I've checked to make sure the tyres are not catching anything, and nothing else is catching everything seems fine.

Any ideas? thanks in advance

check that the brake caliper sliders are free if not brake pads could be sticking and getting hot

ditto we had this problem with the wife's Freelander and that was the brake calliper sticking after we sorted it she got quite a bit more to the gallon
