Looking for a disco and found two I think are ok, both 300tdi but 1 is manual and the other is auto ........ question is which is best for all round use, towing, motorway, mild oof road and green lanes.

i just bought a manual 300 tdi,
in the main for work use, which covers towing
machinery and green refuse, and consecutive motorway runs, it returns a graet MPG(last check averaging Above 30, motorway runs def. coming into play here), Power and ease with towing is brilliant, total confidence in it.
Have a nose about on other threads and see all round Auto performances to help in your decision, and ensure whatever you buy is giving you optimum performance relative to condition.

We have both and manual in the family and if I was going to buy another Disco, I think I would go manual.

The auto is a nicer drive imo but it loses maybe 10% on mpg and loses out on performance. Nice though...............
