I am wanting to paint my axles while I have them off and research throws up a million and two solutions to the issue, so in your humble opinions whats the best way forward to achieve nice shiney or matt black axles.

get em steam cleaned if poss, some nice grey primer then hammerite them.

can you do this with them in-situ? Mine are looking a bit drab and I want to do something when I start to paint/waxoil my chassis.

Hammerite seems to be the way forward, would a good jet washing do the job instead of steam cleaning?

if i was doing it i would get them steam cleaned as it makes the bits you want cleaning sparkle.this gets rid of all the old oil, clag and any other **** on the parts.then when you primer the parts the paint will adhere properly.
