Hi there, please could you tell me whether I should be able to feel air blowing from the oil filler cap hole when the cap is removed?

I have just replaced my head gasket and was told that before I replaced it I shouldn't be able to feel any air blowing through the hole.

It's a Defender 200tdi 1991.

Thanks Terra Dog

It's nothing compared to whats coming out of the exhaust. But it is blowing a little. When you put your hand above the hole you can feel it?

dont sound much problem if its not spraying you with oil try it localy and see,or drive it to someone for opinion ,as long as not blowing oil should be ok.ITS NOT SOMTHING ANY ONE CAN BE SURE ON WITHOUT SEEING IT! good luck :)

ye ye ye got it the foist time but what does it mean in term of what problem do you have if this is happening?

Worn piston rings
cracked pistons
broken piston rings
worn valves
blocked crankcase breather
blocked oilpump pickup gauze
blown head gasket,
worn bores.
