I need a new pump. Its howling when turning the wheel and the pump is leaking slightly. Just priced on Paddocks site at £154. Has anyone used one and can give any feedback on them? Cheers guys.

I've found a place locally that has 3 TD5's breaking.
Going tomorrow to look for a gearbox, want me to get you a price?

That would be good mate. Checked the link on PM and might be false economy going by mileage on it. Having said that, cash is tight after the last few weeks spending like a daft man. PM coming.

Hi guys, Please excuse me jumping in on your posts here but could I ask the same favour?
Got the front bumper/lights/grill off mine due to a collision with a deer and I've been trying to find/stop a leak from the power steering pump while waiting for the parts (bloody holidays!).
It shouldn't be a huge leap to have the rad out as well and do the pas pump if it's a good price.
Thanks
Rob

Where are you?
As we are both in Scotland

Hi bigge, Yes, mate, I'm over in Fort William. Was going away to work before Hogmanay but just to cheer me up a bit more, I've been laid off so busy trying to get the old girl back on the road after hitting the deer and MOT'd.
I gunked everything down and the leak seemed to be coming from the low pressure pipe where it seals at the bottom of the pump. I ordered a replacement o ring but they sent the wrong one. So, I tried getting it off and checking the existing seal and cleaning it up a bit. It's more like a small 'washer' that sits around the pipe part that goes into the pump body. Seemed ok so I wiped it all down and tightened it all up and seemed hunky dory! Access from underneath is a pig too!!
Was doing the handbrake today and checked the fluid. Nearly empty (!!)so looked back at the underside of the pump and it was just dripping fluid.... So, I don't know if I've made it worse or the leak wasn't from there to start with. Can't lose that much fluid overnight and live with it so.....a replacement pump may be the answer.
I've got to spray up the end caps of the bumper so I've got time to try and get the rad out and check the pump and all hoses properly.
I haven't found a replacement bonnet yet either so if you hear of anyone breaking a Zambezi Silver(737) D2 please let me know!!
Cheers
Rob

I bought one of these from Paddocks. It fitted perfectly and bled the air out easily and quickly and no more problems from the steering.

A1 as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks Dave. Phoned them this morning and they couldn't tell me if they were OEM or aftermarket etc. In fact their words were "its non branded". Ended up ordering an OEM one from Island for £167. See how it goes.

OK mate but just for your info, the one I bought from Paddocks was made by Hobourn (from memory) which is the same as the one on the car that broke down.

I asked her if it was a Hobourn and she had never heard of it. I think some in house training of their sales staff would not go amiss by the sound of it.

New pump arrived from Island 4x4 yesterday. Can't complain at next day delivery. My only concern is, its in a Britpart box. It does have OEM on the label however, but no manufaturers markings on the pump at all. The casting of the body looks a bit iffy. Will fit it at the weekend and see how it goes.
