Hi all, i have joined the forum as i am going to pick up a used 2003 range rover vogue 4.4v8 on wednesday and i wanted to do a little research as this will be the most expensive car i have bought. This car captivated me from the age of four and i want one bad however i have have just read some shocking reviews on reliablity and repairs and now i am worried. The car i am getting has 59000 miles on it and i would be the third owner. Could anyone give me some reality on this model please. Thank you all , Damo

Don't do it. If yu want reliability get a rice burner. All british cars are ****e and breakdown more than US/Korean Peace talks.

I am a bit gutted as i longed for one for thirty years, is there a particular model that seems to be more reliable than the others ? Surely they are not that bad, how can they be so expensive if they are always breaking down ? Call me crazy but i still may buy it. problem is the wife read all the bad reviews and people complaining about seriously high repair bills so if i do get it if she breaks down i will NEVER hear the end of it. The one i want is £8,700 and looks brand new .

Yu asked you'e been told Landrovers are ****e. and breakdown all the time. The fancier they are the more they cost to repair. If you're good with the oldf spanners and are happy to spend ya weekends fixing en. They're great AND parts are cheap. If you put ya motor into a garage everytime they break. DO NOT get a landrover..

Careful are you a mechanic with a eletrical degree in auto electrics, engine re-builder, specialist in air suspensions, lock smith just for a start?????? and is your retirement pension accessible for repair parts

Ok thanks lads, you have told me what i needed to hear to stop my heart over riding my brain. I will start looking at toyotas :) take care all.

Don't want to burst your bubble, but I have owned a Jap 4x4 (prior to Land Rover's) and they are very expensive to repair when major parts go wrong ... they can be more reliable but cost of parts is dearer as most parts have to be imported from Japan...

There's a bloke in the workshop next to mine thats always telling me he used to have Landys and how ****e they are.....it's not easy to disagree as I sit there covered in grease surrounded by bits that should be integral, inside bits but are spread out in various heaps on the floor.....

It's a bit like having a slightly dirty habit that everyone else kicked when they grew up

It's never that simple though, my mate is a VW nut and has bought a cherished a TD4 van (yeah I know w@nker), but as he has found out after paying a lot of money, it's not the vehicles fault, but the lack of care from previous owner's and lack of buyer knowledge.

Buying a car is like using a 2nd hand condom, wearer beware!
