Hi guys,

potentially going to be dipping into to LR world and looking to purchase a late as poss FL2.

Spotted a used HSE locally with the SD4 engine and on its last mot it had a couple of advisories and wanted to know if these are common issues and if i should run away?

Oil leak but not excessive
Offside Rear Seat belt anchorage prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive.

Its a 2011 and done 130k.

Looking at many other cars, i have never seen either of these as advisories before!

Can't have looked at many Landies if you've never seen an advisory for an oil leak!

I got this advisory on mine a couple of years back...

No thats a fair comment!

To be honest, i was more worried about the seat belt corrosion as this will probably only get worse.

Its got a full service history, although a lot of the later stamps are from a specialist.

Check the back end… they can suffer from rust around the rear sub-frame.
 
Find out what the oil leak is and where it's coming from if you can, PTU gearbox sump or crank oil seal, the corrosion will most likely be the out skin on the rear sill open the doors and check to see.
 
There are plenty of HSE Sd4's out there. I'd keep looking. Worth spending a little more to find one leak and corrosion free. In the long run it could save you money on chasing repairs , time off the road etc.
Always do a full MOT check on the Government website. This will tell you whether a vehicle has been neglected or run on a shoestring. Passing an MOT, but with the same advisories for years in a row - or if a vehicle has failed an MOT with a list of advisories, but passes a few days later with just the failure points rectified means the owner doesn't look after the vehicle.
I once saw a Freelander who had an advisory 3 years in a row for a "Nail in front o/s tyre". Not a good omen for how the vehicle was being run.

Yes, it does appear that many in our price range do only seem to have the failures repaired leaving advisories.
They'd be owned by lazy c**ts like me.

I've owned that one for 14 years now, and its boringly reliable. A real awesome car that never lets us down. Well, very very rarely has it given us trouble. Service it well, look after the important stuff and it has rewarded us well. Still does.

Hopefully the F2 will be as good. Had it over a year now and so far so good.
