The, what can be best described as a droning noise, persists on my V6 Freelander. New VCU and GKN bearings some 4k miles ago now, the noise has not got any worse, but certainly has not gone away. I have Scorpions on with around 5mm of tread. It starts at around 30mph and pretty much disappears at around 60-70mph. Seems to be worse on concrete type roads rather than conventional tarmac but there is definitely a, what I would describe, tyre noise evident which changes with the road surface. It's been on a 4-post hoist and apparently the noise isn't there??? As I must have covered over 5k miles with this noise now I would have thought that if it was the diff' or wheel bearing(?) then one or the other would have failed catastrophically by now; wouldn't it?
Are scorpions that noisy? Or will the diff' give up on me sooner or later?
