Hi All

After damaging a piston in my engine I put it all back together and now I have exhaust gases in the coolant (did a block test as the cooling system was pressurised when cold).

I have lifted the heads back off and I have check the liners and they dont seem to have slipped (all at the top of the bores and i can't feel the joint where the liner meets the block).

None of the pistons look like there has been water in the bores (piston heads don't look steam cleaned and plugs are sooty and dry)

I was not happy with the gasket set I used when I rebuilt the engine after putting in the new piston, could my problem be related to poor gaskets?

Can anyone recomend a good source for a head set?

should have got heads skimmed and crack tested, but could well be block when hot

use a composite gasket as the steel ones tend to be more troublesome.

I had one head skimmed after replacing the piston, machine shop said the other one was flat and did not need doing.

Anyone got any recommendations where I can get a good composite gasket set. The last set I bought came from a supplier who i have used for other items before (parts, general service items) and never had a problem
