POLICE WARNING. Advice to anyone travelling in icy conditions should take with them. Shovel, blankets or sleeping bag. Extra clothing including a scarf or hat and gloves. 24 hour supply of food and drink. De_Icer and rock salt. Torch and spare batteries. Mobile phone, safety triangle, tow rope, petrol can, first aid kit and jump leads. * * Looked a right pillock on the bus this morning. :doh:
 
many peeps laugh at this old joke but my mate used to tell his missus this and she had a boot full of stuff in her astra she would even get up early to make a flask of soup. The real funny thing in all this is she worked under 2 miles from where they lived.

My lad said that his school will probably be **** cos nobody can get in. He lives 3/4 mile away in a pretty busy residential area. Certainly the students can get there.
 
I went to boarding school near Knighton in Shropshire, we were often snowed in and still had classes. Teachers made it in whatever. These days there's no dedication grrr

Schools fear being sued if they can't keep paths clear of ice/snow......and the truth is many parents wouldn't hesitate to sue :(

We just got on with it. Sensible shoes and a bit of common sense fine. Jaysus we used to sled down yonder ( hill behind school) on trays robbed from the canteen. Then when that was so compacted it was ice we wore our slip on and did it Eddie eagle style.

That's fun, cept when you hit a frozen cowpat 😱😱😱
 
my mates son died on a peice of plastic hit and run but when u choose a hill that has a main road at the bottom. It's the darwin awards again bonnet friends and a hill away from roads
 
same with my mates boy hit the news young baby yeah tragic accident.But in the cool like of day he slide down a slope onto a road :confused: Can not for the life of me understand why when you have a family kids how can you be so stupid?

done the plastic sheets down very steep roads bit when i was a bairn and also did it on a steep grassy hill near my house, til i went through the barbed wire fence at the bottom :eek:


it was extreme playing when i was young ;)

rope swings from the biggest tallest trees overhanging water we could find to jump off.

never broke owt, but was extremely lucky :)
