the BP one is surprisingly very good, i use them in stationary 2.25s and they've done 1000s of hours

I've seen lumenition systems a lot in competition vehicles, not landys, never known a failure though.
I think they are a lot of cash for what you get.
Seen a couple of classics with the ford edis system without a dizzy transplanted from an escort, works well but needs a pulley adapting from a ford cam, one of the teeth is machined off and a bolt made to fit the crank pulley.

I use Lumenition in my SIIa,cost me £15 for the dizzy fitting kit the rest was free from a RRv8 breaker.Totally transforms starting and reliability.recently fitted it to a 4.2 E type,starts better than it ever did.
Its not cheap,but its bloody good - esp if its a long term vehicle.
Any of the systems is probably more reliable than the ****e points and condensors that are made now.
 
That never occured to me, points wont have a high demand so new ones probably wont be what they used to.
If I remember correctly the lumenition system works in constant energy mode, which does need a purpose made coil, but your engine will run better esp at low and high revs, the former being important for landys rather than the latter.
 
I have now fitted the kit that I brought.

One of the best and cheapest modifications I have made to the Land Rover.

I advise you all to go out any buy one now...

I am looking for a new dizzy very interested in the SimonBBC one posted on this thread, I have an early SIII 72 (built) reg 73, with what looks like the original rather tired looking Lucas 25D dizzy! So I am looking to replace the whole thing rather than the guts and gubbins but lumenition looks good, very clever.
